AWB Central

An ISP operations platform managing internet access for 25,000+ users.

During my software engineering internship at American Wide Broadband, I built an in-house operations platform managing internet access for more than 25,000 users. The purpose of this project was to integrate every step of their operations in one piece of software, instead of having to maintain separate databases for each of their branches of work.

The final project consisted of an internal CRM, staff calendar, technician mobile app, client portal, and Stripe-based recurring billing system. The work was split between four main access systems: an admin portal, client portal, technician mobile app, and website.

Ultimately, this allowed AWB employees to assign tickets, view signed service agreements, bill clients, create new quotes, and manage clients, all under one platform.

I also added a few convenience tools to the platform. The technician app includes a preview of the order location through the Google Maps API, and they can immediately open the directions in Apple Maps or Google Maps using a single button.

The admin portal includes AWB Agent, an OpenAI-based LLM connected to custom tool calls, allowing employees to safely create orders/tickets, ask about client data, and view various statistics.

The admin portal is also fully integrated with the AWB website, and all submitted forms are immediately visible by AWB employees.

Finally, I integrated Retell AI to allow customers to log tickets and ask about outages after hours, with a summary and transcript of every call visible on the admin portal.

Regents Park: 1,000+ units from bulk to retail

My final project with AWB involved Regents Park, where I orchestrated a transition of more than 1,000 apartment units from bulk billing to retail. This was implemented by providing a brief transition period, where customers could pre-enroll in AWB’s retail plans on the website. This automatically enrolled them as clients in the AWB CRM. Finally, for turnover, by integrating Positron GAM (Gigabit Access Multiplexer) software with the AWB database, I created a custom hotspot which explained the changes and provided signup options, allowing for the most seamless transition possible.

From support request to completed order

  1. A customer’s support request becomes a ticket in Central, where staff assign an order to a technician.
  2. The technician receives the job, completes the work and collects a signed service agreement in the mobile app.
  3. Any additional charges go through Stripe. If payment fails, the technician sees it immediately.
  4. Central closes the ticket and order. The customer receives an email and can view the details in their portal.
