Space2

A modern remake of the classic fleet battle game space1.io.

Space2 is a re-creation of space1.io, a classic space fleet game where you control an army of ships that fly towards your pointer. Space2’s code is adapted from the unmaintained remake daud.io (MIT license), and consists of a major rewrite from Daud’s game engine design to typical TypeScript code.

Regarding controls: your ships fly towards your pointer, a click fires a volley of bullets, S boosts your ship forwards, and every “fish” (green dot) or enemy ship you shoot down grows your fleet.

The game has a few changes compared to the original. Two of the most notable ones:

  1. When their velocity is high enough, the asteroids floating around the arena can destroy a player's ships.
  2. Players of the same color are considered to be on the same team, and cannot damage each other.

You can play the game here. Hope you enjoy!

Example gameplay in FFA mode.
Space2 gameplay in Party City: the red fleet Daniel, ten ships flying in formation, fires a volley of red bullets down and to the right at Vega's yellow fleet of seven, which sits inside two green arcs of the world mesh, with a striped ball and a purple wedge below, the kill log bottom left and the leaderboard top right with Daniel in second place.
Party City: a ten-ship fleet fires a volley at Vega.
The Space2 spawn screen over the Party City arena: the SPACE2.io logo, seven ship colours to pick from, the nickname Daniel, Play and Watch buttons, a Game Modes button, the controls card (shoot with the mouse, dash with S, Esc to exit or spectate), Settings and Login, and the live leaderboard top right.
